Midwestern University’s interprofessional healthcare team is offering a free health fair for community members to highlight the importance of decreasing the risk of falling in adult populations on Friday, October 7, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the Multispecialty Clinic, located at 3450 Lacey Road, Downers Grove, IL 60515. According to the National Council on Aging, falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries for older Americans. While falls can threaten older adults’ safety and independence, and generate significant costs, there are steps people can take to reduce their likelihood of falling.

Midwestern University faculty and students will provide informational materials, brief screenings, and resources designed to help enhance older adults’ quality of life. A variety of stations will be available for participants to receive healthcare information from the following specialties:

  • Physical Therapy
  • Optometry
  • Family Medicine
  • Pharmacy
  • Behavioral Medicine
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech-Language Pathology

Due to limited space, please register by October 1, 2022. For more information and to register, call 630-743-4616, email omendo@midwestern.edu, or visit https://www.mwuclinics.com/illinois/events/physical-therapy/falls-prevention-health-fair.
