'A Living Legacy:' Downers Grove Plants 250 Trees To Celebrate America Turning 250
Residents will see the new American Larch, Beech and Hophornbeam trees on parkways throughout the village.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL —The Downers Grove is celebrating America's 250th birthday by making the village a little greener. A total of 250 trees have been planted throughout the village to honor this July 4, 2026, milestone.
Among the new trees are American Beech, American Larch and American Hophornbeam. Notice a theme?
"Planting 250 trees in recognition of America's 250th anniversary is a meaningful way to celebrate our nation's history while investing in the future of our community," Downers Grove Mayor Bob Barnett shared in a statement.
