A total of 250 trees have been planted throughout the village to honor this July 4, 2026, milestone. Among the new trees are American Beech, American Larch and American Hophornbeam. Notice a theme? "Planting 250 trees in recognition of America's 250th anniversary is a meaningful way to celebrate our nation's history while investing in the future of our community," Downers Grove Mayor Bob Barnett shared in a statement. He added, "These trees will serve as a living legacy that benefits residents today and for decades to come."
