Local Doctor Participates in Evolution of Medicine Film Festival
Dr. Justin Coop, of Inspired Health Center is participating in the first ever Evolution of Medicine Film Festival on October 26 in Wheaton.
Dr. Coop will be part of the Film Festival by hosting a screening of the Escape Fire: The Fight to Rescue American Healthcare, at 6:30 p.m., October 26, at the Studio Movie Grill, in Wheaton.
The 2012 feature-length documentary spotlights the current state of our healthcare system and examines the powerful forces maintaining the status quo. These include a medical industry designed for quick fixes rather than prevention and for profit-driven care rather than patient-driven care. The filmmakers interweave dramatic personal arcs of patients and physicians with the stories of leaders, including Drs. Andrew Weil and Dean Ornish, battling to transform health care at the highest levels of medicine, industry, government, and even the U.S. military. Coop is dedicated to raising awareness in the local community about the innovative high-touch, low-cost methods of prevention and healing available as alternatives to our current high-tech, costly system. The film is about saving the health of a nation - but first, we need to change the conversation. The movie screening will be preceded by refreshments at the Whole Foods in Wheaton and followed by a question-and-answer session with Dr. Coop.
