Loftus Named to Library Board
Former Downtown Management Corp. chairman replaces Stephen Daniels.
Mayor Ron Sandack appointed Dan Loftus to the Downers Grove Public Library Board of Trustees Oct. 5, filling the seat left vacant by the August resignation of Board President Stephen Daniels.
"I'm very pleased Dan has accepted the opportunity," said Commissioner Bruce Beckman, the village council liaison to the library board.
Loftus served a year as chairman of the Downers Grove Downtown Management Corp. and also is a past president of the District 99 Educational Foundation.

Another open seat on the library board was filled by the reappointment of Tom Read. Beckman commended his "unique skills in library service management."
While the mayor of Downers Grove is responsible for making appointments to the library board of trustees, that board governs independently of the village council. Library trustees have the sole authority to levy property taxes to support the library and also to hire the library director.
