Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital plans to open a community-based pediatric hospital in Downers Grove
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — The Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital plans to open its first inpatient location outside of the city, with a community-based pediatric hospital in Downers Grove. The low-acuity care hospital will include an emergency department, inpatient beds, surgical suites and dedicated departments for cardiology, oncology and other specializations.
“This is an exciting opportunity for Lurie Children’s to bring internationally recognized pediatric care closer to home for families in the western suburbs,” Tom Shanley, MD, President and CEO of Lurie Children’s Hospital said in a statement. “Just as important, we are committed to engaging the community — listening, learning and shaping this facility around the needs of the families we serve.”
Downers Grove Mayor Bob Barnett said the village is " excited to embrace Lurie Children’s mission to provide world-class care to children and their families."
