Man Offers Girl, 12, Ride To School In Downers Grove
The suspect was last seen driving a four-door maroon hatchback vehicle.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL --- Downers Grove police are asking the public to stay vigilant as they investigate a suspicious incident in which a man offered a 12-year-old girl a ride to school. The incident took place Thursday just before 8 a.m. near Brookbank Road and 62nd Street.
The girl refused to get a ride from the suspect and later reported the incident. Police say the man, who was described only as an African-American male in his 40s or 50s with a shaved head, was driving a maroon four-door vehicle with a hatchback. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt and driving south on Brookbank Road.
In the wake of the incident, Downers Grove police have increased patrols in the area. They also remind parents to tell children to run to a house they know or to school and then call police if they are approached by a stranger.
