Man Tries To Punch Downers Grove Cop In Face During Arrest: PD

Police say he told the cops, "This is my house; get the [expletive] out."

DOWNERS GROVE, IL -- A Downers Grove man tried to punch a police officer in the face after he shoved and hit two other cops during a domestic disturbance investigation Saturday night, according to a police report. Michael D. Schneider, 60, of the 400 block of Gierz Street, was charged with battery and aggravated assault in connection with the incident.

Police say they were called to Schneider's home around 8 p.m. after reports that he was intoxicated and hitting another resident of the home in an argument about their dog. When police got to the scene, they say Schneider became "belligerent" and yelled at them, "This is my house; get the [expletive] out."

Schneider is then accused of shoving one officer out of the way and then getting into a second officer's face "in an aggressive manner" before hitting the officer in the left shoulder.

Police say a third officer approached Schneider while he was sitting on a couch and tried to calm him down. According to police, Schneider then swung to punch the officer in the face, but missed. The officer said he then grabbed Schneider's arm, pulled him to the ground and handcuffed him without further incident.

Schneider was released on bond and is set to appear in court on April 24.
