Marco Rubio Campaigns With Roskam In Oak Brook
Dozens of protesters gathered in Oak Brook during the fundraising luncheon.

OAK BROOK, IL --- Former presidential candidate Marco Rubio paid a visit to Oak Brook Monday to campaign for District 6 incumbent Rep. Peter Roskam. The Florida senator and Roskam --who have both voted against banning assault rifles --- were greeted by throngs of protesters outside of the fundraiser Monday afternoon.
The fundraising event, which came just days after 11 people were killed by a gunman in a Pittsburgh synagogue, brought protesters who spoke out against Roskam and Rubio for their votes on gun control, reproductive rights, and health care. The crowd of nearly 100 people outside the Double Tree Hilton held signs that read "Health Care is a Human Right," "Save the ACA," and "Reproductive Freedom for All."

Roskam, who has served for six terms, is being challenged by Democrat Sean Casten in the Nov. 6 election. Roskam faces a financial advantage over Casten's campaign, but the race has gotten tighter as Election Day approaches.

After Roskam's meeting with Rubio Monday, Casten took to Twitter to take aim at his opponent. He wrote:
It’s galling that Peter Roskam is taking the time to fundraise with the NRA’s sixth highest beneficiary in the Senate, Marco Rubio, but he was unwilling to meet with survivors of the Parkland shooting when they came to #IL06 last month to hold a town hall. https://t.co/K0VCl9vq3b
