'Muddy Warhol' Contest To Celebrate Two Arts Icons In Westmont
Westmont's "Muddy Warhol" contest calls on artists to create Muddy Waters portraits in the style of Andy Warhol.

WESTMONT, IL — The village of Westmont will host a "Muddy Warhol Art Contest and Exhibit" in 2023, drawing inspiration from the upcoming Andy Warhol exhibit at College of DuPage and blues icon Muddy Waters, who spent the final years of his life in Westmont.
The Westmont Special Events Corporation NFP has joined forces with College of DuPage and Muddy Waters' estate to produce the months-long event, which will also feature a presentation about Waters and Warhol, art classes and a birthday celebration for Muddy Waters come April.
“This cross promotion will help to bring art and culture throughout the county," Diana Martinez, Director of McAninch Arts Center, said in a news release.

Martinez added, "The Muddy/Warhol concept is such a creative way to honor Muddy Waters with a memorialized public art installation in the community in an amazing tribute to this legendary Westmont resident."
The Muddy Warhol contest will kick off in January, with judging set for March 17. The winners will be announced March 20 and the Muddy Warhol exhibit will open in April and extend into summer of 2023.
