Of Snow Plows and Cabin Fever
Village reports on snow-clearing efforts, Park District announces open gym for kids.
In an e-mail blast this morning, Village Hall reported that major and secondary roads are passable, but only 60 percent of cul-de-sacs and dead-end streets have been plowed.
"Due to the large volume of snow, normal plowing techniques are ineffective in these areas," the e-mail stated. "Front-end loaders and backhoes are being used to clear the snow away from driveways and mailboxes. This is an effective technique which does, however, take more time."
The remainder of those streets will be cleared today, the village said. Plowing operations have been continuing on a 24-hour/day basis since 11 a.m. Feb.1, the village reported.
