Overnight Closures Planned At 3 Railroad Crossings In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Overnight closures will be in effect at three railroad crossings in Downers Grove starting Sept. 18.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) will perform maintenance from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sept. 18, 19 and 20, closing the following crossings.

• Forest Avenue
• Maple Avenue
• Washington Street

Commuters are encouraged to take the Belmont Road underpass if they need to cross the railroad tracks.

In its update about the closures, the village shared the following statement, "While it is unfortunate that notice of this work wasn’t provided sooner to allow for more effective coordination and communication, the Village appreciates BNSF’s investment in the maintenance of its railway infrastructure."
