Power Outages Impact Thousands, Close Downers Grove Village Hall
Tuesday's violent storms left 90,000 customers affected and caused several closures.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — After violent storms struck Tuesday night, thousands of ComEd customers were left without power in Downers Grove. The outages left village hall without electricity until 1 p.m. Wednesday, causing officials to close the building until Thursday.
As of Wednesday morning, more than 90,000 customers in the greater ComEd service area were impacted by the storm and some 28,000 were still without power, according to a news release shared by Downers Grove Mayor Martin Tully. As of 2 p.m., the ComEd outage map showed that more than 6,500 customers were still without electricity throughout Illinois.
At that time, the outage map showed that crews were still working to restore power to roughly 77 customers in Downers Grove.

The power loss caused closures and cancellations at businesses and organizations throughout Downers Grove. Around 1 p.m., Lincoln Center and Downers Grove Museum announced that their programs would be canceled Wednesday, but that after school programs would remain in session.
