Registration Now Open For 2022 Grove Express 5K

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Registration is now open for the 2022 Grove Express 5K, which honors the tradition of the bygone Bonfield Express race by welcoming runners to compete Thanksgiving morning for a good cause.

The Grove Express got its start in 2021, when Downers Grove District 58 joined forces with the Downers Grove Roadrunners Soccer Club and the Downers Grove Rotary Club to keep the beloved race alive. Proceeds from the 5K will the aforementioned organizations.

Those who take part in the Grove Express 5K can choose to walk or run the course, which will make its way throughout downtown Downers Grove along a USA Track and Field-certified course, starting at 8:30 a.m.

Participants can click the link to register in advance. The cost to register is $35 per person through Nov. 6, $40 per person Nov. 7 through Nov. 18 and $45 per person Nov. 19 through race day. The fee includes a souvenir t-shirt and a race packet.

"District 58 is very grateful for the support and resources it has received thanks to the Grove Express 5K and its predecessor, the Bonfield Express 5K," said Superintendent Dr. Kevin Russell. said in a statement.

He added, "District 58 appreciates the strong partnerships between the schools and community!"

The Bonfield Express Foundation has donated close to $1 million to local schools, including those of District 58. since its inception in 2004.
