'Restaurant: Impossible' Filming at Zest Bistro, Lemon Tree Grocer

Downers Grove locals have a chance to win a spot at the Zest Bistro grand reveal at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Passers-by around Lemon Tree Grocer this week may hear the signature bellow of Chef Robert Irvine whipping a restaurant into shape, as Food Network show “Restaurant: Impossible” films at Zest Bistro.

The show has been filming since Sunday and will continue until early Thursday, according to the village website. Dan McLean, a spokesman for Irvine, said in an email “the air date is usually 8 weeks after filming, but nothing has been confirmed.”

Downers Grove locals have a chance to win a spot at the Zest Bistro grand reveal at 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Lemon Tree Grocer post on Facebook. The grocer is holding a contest on Facebook to give away a table for four at the grand reveal.

The restaurant currently has 3.5 stars from 16 reviews on Yelp. Some reviewers complement the food, while others lament the “unbelievably bad service.” Other, still, say their experience at Zest has improved over time.

Drivers in the area should note Burlington Avenue between Washington Street and the entrance to Commuter Lot B will continue to be closed until 4 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, though Commuter Lot B will remain open during and will be accessible via Mochel Drive, according to the village.

Construction noise and crew members may be present in the area today, Feb. 10, until 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
