Downers Grove School Bus Crash: 2 Adults Injured, No Kids On Bus

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Downers Grove officials say no children were on a school bus that was involved in a crash with an SUV Monday morning ear the intersection of Butterfield and Downers Drive. An adult passenger on the bus and the driver of the SUV were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with injuries that police say were not life-threatening.

Live footage from ABC 7 showed the damaged school bus with its front end in a ditch and its emergency back doors wide open. A downed utility pole is visible to the right of the bus and a tow truck stands ready to pull the bus from the ditch.

According to police, the crash happened at approximately 9 a.m. Police say the cause of the crash is under investigation. They are asking for anyone with information about the crash to call the Downers Grove Police Department at 630-434-5600.

Just before 11 a.m., village officials Tweeted that the accident had been cleared and the intersection was "clear and passable."
