Spring Fling Backyard BBQ Brings Rides, Fireworks, Music To Westmont

WESTMONT, IL — Ty Warner Park in Westmont will be abuzz with the glow of carnival rides and fireworks, the sounds of live music and the aroma of grilled food when the 2022 Spring Fling Backyard BBQ arrives. The event, slated for May 27 through May 29, is free and open to all ages.

"Our Westmont Lion's Club Memorial Day event has been updated to take on more of a local flavor," Spring Fling Coordinator Dan Buczkowski said in a news release.

He added, "We made an extra effort to hire local bands, several of which have a direct connection to Westmont, and the Backyard BBQ Competition will provide an opportunity for all of our local grillers to show off their talent. This is a great event to kick-off all of the wonderful events we have in Westmont throughout the Summer."

Competitors will grill up chicken and ribs on May 28. On May 29, a fireworks show will light up the sky above Ty Warner Park.

The live music schedule for the 2022 Spring Fling Backyard BBQ is as follows:

May 27

5 p.m.: Whoosh playing reggae and contemporary music

7 p.m.: SWAK playing classic rock

May 28

2 p.m.: Flat Cats playing swing and jazz tunes

4:30 p.m.: The Salties playing roots, reggae and rock music

7 p.m.: Anthem playing classic rock and more

May 29

2 p.m.: The Noize playing rock and modern hits

4:30 p.m.: Luke Repass playing blues and blues rock

7 p.m.: Whiskeyfist playing country and country rock

Carnival rides that will be featured throughout the Spring Fling include Zero Gravity, Tilt-a-Whirl, Fun Slide, Pharaoh's Fury, Ferris Wheel and more. Games, funnel cake and other carnival favorites will also be available.

The carnival rides will be open at the following times:

May 27 and May 28: 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

May 29: 6 p.m. to 9:25 p.m.

Arts and craft vendors will be onsite throughout the weekend, as will food vendors including Barone's, Big Joe's Backyard BBQ, The Sweet & Savory Spot and Cub Scouts Pack 3006, serving slices of pizza and soda.
