DOWNERS GROVE, IL -- Another Downers Grove 3rd-grader was recently honored with a ride to school in a fire truck for the winning fire escape plan she drafted as part of a district-wide competition. Alexa Lazzeri, who attends Henry Puffer School arrived to school in a fire engine along with members of the Downers Grove Fire Department and her special guest, her brother, Jake Lazzeri.

Third-grade teacher Carrie Edwards was also along for the ride, which included a stop at a Downers Grove fire station to have breakfast with firefighters and get a behind-the-scenes tour of the facility. Alexa's mom, Maryann, told Patch that Alexa was "VERY excited" to show up to school in the fire truck after breakfast.
