Teens Can Apply to Work on Mural for Downers Grove Library

Twelve specially chosen teens will work with artist John McDavitt to create a mural for Teen Central.

A select group of 12 high school students will have a chance to work with local artist John McDavitt this summer to create a student-driven group mural which will be installed as an art piece in Teen Central.

McDavitt, who created the mural in the Kids Room, will guide the students through the entire process of envisioning and creating the final product. The program will take place on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., June 11 – July 30. The library will supply all materials; full details can be found at dglibrary.org/artistsstudio.

Teens who live i n Downers Grove or attend a Downers Grove school, have completed grades 9 – 12, and have art class experience are invited to apply online at dglibrary.org/artistsstudio until April 30. Selections will be made in May and students will be notified by May 15.
