Thieves Pry Open Truck, Steal Brass Fixtures In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police in Downers Grove are looking for a suspect or suspects who pried open a storage compartment on a locked truck and stole brass plumbing fixtures. The incident took place at Jay's Plumbing, 1509 Ogden Ave., on Jan. 11.

According to police, an employee reported the burglary after arriving at the scene to find the work truck had been badly damaged. Police found evidence of pry marks on the doors to the truck's four locked compartments. One door had been completely pried off the frame and removed, police say.

Two other doors had damaged latches and were left open when the employee arrived.

Police say the suspect(s) stole loose brass plumbing fittings and a plastic case that also contained brass plumbing fixtures. The total estimated property loss was between $250 and $300, according to a police report.

Police were unable to obtain fingerprint evidence due to rain on the day of the incident, the report said.
