Thieves Rifle Through Cars, Leave Doors Open

Three separate incidents of someone rummaging through cars parked on driveways reported in Downers Grove, police say.

Car burglars struck three different driveways in Downers Grove during the overnight hours of Oct. 16-17, reports said.

Around 6:08 a.m. Oct. 17, a woman walked outside and noticed that a door was open on her gray KIA in the 300 block of Grant Street.

The second vehicle, a Nissan Versa, had also been rifled through. Nothing appeared missing from the two cars.

The officer later responded to the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue. The car owners reported that someone had been through all three of their vehicles parked on their driveway. Nothing was taken and the owner told police that the car doors are kept unlocked.

As the officer was driving down the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue, he noticed the door to another truck with its door open. The truck was parked on the driveway.

All three owners told police they would sign complaints.
