Unload Unwanted Gourds At Pumpkin Smash In Downers Grove
Residents can bring their jack-o'-lanterns to be composted at a Pumpkin Smash event set for Nov. 5 at Downers Grove South High School.
DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Now that Halloween has passed, you can recycle those old jack-o'-lanterns at an upcoming Pumpkin Smash in Downers Grove.
The event, one of many in the area hosted by SCARCE, will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Downers Grove South High School. The pumpkins will be smashed onsite and then later composted.
SCARCE, which stands for School and Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education, helped compost more than 240 tons of pumpkins in 2021 via pumpkin smash events in and around DuPage County. Not in Downers Grove? Click the link to find a SCARCE pumpkin smash near you.
