Vandals Smash All the Pumpkins In Front of Downers Grove Jewel

Halloween ghouls paid an early visit to a Downers Grove supermarket and smashed all of the pumpkins outside of the store, reports said.

Police said that vandals smashed all of the pumpkins in front of Jewel-Osco at 1148 Ogden Ave., sometime during the overnight hours of Oct. 5.

According to the report, the store manager told police he cleaned up about 130 pumpkins, each valued around $4.

Jewel’s corporate office advised the store manager to file a police report and to request extra patrols, police said.

The store manager said he would be willing to press charges if the vandals are caught smashing pumpkins.
