Warrant Money Scammer Tries To Swindle Downers Grove Resident
Police say the caller ID showed the number for DuPage Warrant Services.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A Downers Grove man nearly lost $500 when he was almost the victim of a phone scam Saturday. The caller told the victim that there was an outstanding warrant for their arrest and they needed to pay money to get the warrant voided.
The victim told police that the caller said they were from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office and that caller ID said the call came from the DuPage County Civil Warrant Division. The suspect went on to tell the victim that there was a warrant out for his arrest for missing jury duty. Police say the suspect even provided a warrant number.
According to police, the victim was told to come up with $489 and to call a number back once he had the money. The victim's wife told him it was probably a scam and he did not comply.
