Winning $50K Powerball Ticket Sold At Store In Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — As the Powerball jackpot surges to $1.9 million, it turns out a lucky player recently bought a ticket that won $50,000 at a convenience store in Downers Grove.

The winning ticket matched four numbers and the Powerball number and was purchased at DG Food and Liquor Mart, 2027 Ogden Ave.

No players matched all six numbers after the jackpot escalated to $1.6 billion, which has now pushed the record-breaking winning amount close to the $2 million mark.

The winning $50,000 Downers Grove ticket was one of five that matched four numbers and the Powerball number. The others were sold at:

• Casey's: 908 W. Carpenter St., Jerseyville
• Hucks: 3300 Broadway St., Mount Vernon
• Hucks: 3300 Broadway St., Mount Vernon
• MJ7 Oil Corporation: 901 Sheridan Rd., Winthrop Harbor

Additionally, three tickets matched four numbers, the Powerball number and were increased with the game's Power Play option for a total win of $150,000 per ticket. They were sold at the following locations:

• Circle K: 3507 Chicago Rd., Steger
• Express Lane: 199 Route 84 North, Cordova
• Illinois Lottery website

Store owners who sell winning Illinois Lottery tickets receive one percent of the prize amount that the winning ticket yielded. According to the Illinois Lottery, no one has won the jackpot in this round of Powerball, which kicked off Aug. 4, but 1.6 million tickets have involved some type of prize win.
