Woman Wearing Two Bras Busted for Retail Theft: Police

Villa Park woman and male companion had removed numerous price tags off of merchandise at Downers Grove store, reports said.

A Villa Park woman and her male companion of the same address were charged with retail theft after they removed price tags from merchandise and attempted to wear the items out of the store, reports said.

Downers Grove police responded to Savers at 2900 Highland Ave. around 3:31 p.m. Sept. 13 for a report of two people being held on suspicion of retail theft.

An employee told police that she was working the floor when she noticed a man later identified as Jose L. Sanchez, 32, carrying eight shirts into a fitting room.

A few minutes later, Patricia Carillo, 43, entered the same stall as Jose, police said. The employee’s suspicions were aroused because Carillo had entered a male only stall, reports said.

As the employee approached the fitting room, Sanchez walked out empty handed and closed the door. Police said that Carillo was still inside and would not respond to the employee’s requests to open the door.

Suddenly the door opened and the employee noticed several price tags stacked on top of each other and apparel. The employee explained to Carillo that removing price tags was against store policy, reports said.

Carillo allegedly claimed not to have done anything wrong and closed the stall door and locked it, reports said. The employee notified the manager and told him to call police.

Carillo finally opened the fitting room door and exited. The employee said she wasn’t going anywhere as she was allegedly suspected of concealing merchandise.

The employee said that Carillo insisted she had to use the bathroom because she was pregnant. The employee noticed a plastic bag tied shut in Carillo’s purse and told her to wait until police arrived, reports said.

According to the police, Sanchez was wearing a blue hooded jacket that an employee said he got off a rack of newly arrived merchandise that had not yet been priced and had not been wearing when he came into the store with Carillo.

Carillo allegedly had numerous price tags in her purse and several more were found behind the fitting room mirror.

Both were arrested and charged with retail theft. They are not allowed back into the store.

Police said that Carillo was wearing two bras that she had gotten off the floor.
