Work To Start On McCollum Park Improvements In August

The McCullom Park improvements will include a new splash pad area and new tennis and pickleball courts.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Work is expected to start on improvements and repairs to McCullom Park in Downers Grove, a project that was temporarily delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The construction is slated to start in August.

Among the improvements and additions to McCullom Park are:

  • Three splash areas with seating
  • Renovations and additions to result in eight pickleball courts and six tennis courts with LED lighting
  • Showers added to restrooms
  • Renovations to plaza to add bench seating and picnic tables
  • Expansion and resurfacing of asphalt pathway surrounding park

The construction will close the park's current tennis courts as of Aug. 1, but residents can still play at Doerhoefer Park and Randall Park.

It's anticipated that the McCollum Park improvements will wrap up by summer 2023.
