Wrong-Way Crash On I-355 Kills 2, Injures 3 Near Downers Grove
Two people were killed and three sustained life-threatening injuries in the 4-vehicle crash.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A wrong-way crash on I-355 left two people dead and three people with life-threatening injuries Thursday night. Illinois State Police say the crash, which took place near Downers Grove, claimed the lives of Arshad Mohammed, 32, of Bloomingdale, and Robert Velazco, 36, of Hammond, Indiana.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a Blue Volkswagen Jetta driven by Velazco, was heading southbound on northbound I-355 when it crashed head-on into a Black Honda driven by Mohammed. Police say the impact of the collision caused a chain reaction that involved a white Ford and a silver Subaru.
Police say Velazco was pronounced dead at the scene and Mohammed was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6 a.m.

A 24-year-old Brookfield man who was in Velazco's car and a 66-year-old man and woman who were in the silver Subaru were rushed to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries.
