• East Peoria Police planning increased impaired driving enforcement around Halloween (wmbdradio.com) — East Peoria police will step up DUI and seat belt enforcement from October 23 through November 3, focusing on impaired drivers and unbuckled passengers. Funded by state highway safety grants, the campaign urges residents to plan sober rides for Halloween celebrations and highlights that extra patrols will be out specifically watching local roads. 
• Tazewell County K9 Maverick wins top state honor (pjstar.com) — A Tazewell County Sheriff’s K9 named Maverick has been honored as the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association’s 2027 K9 Hero of the Year after helping track dangerous suspects, including one who fled after striking a woman with a vehicle in East Peoria. A special Maverick plush and trading card this fall will raise funds for the county’s K9 unit.
