Using a prosthetic leg, she performs challenging color guard routines, including a signature flag catch with her foot, while also staying active in track, theater, and a summer job. Her story is inspiring classmates and showing what’s possible for Effingham students with disabilities.

June Ann Conard, 78 of Okeechobee, FL, (formerly of Elizabethtown and Flora, IL) (wfiwradio.com) — Family and friends in Effingham are among those mourning the passing of June Ann Conard, whose grandson Brett lives in town. The longtime Flora tax accountant and Cisne High graduate died May 28 in Florida, remembered for her outgoing personality, love of gardening and card games, and deep ties to southern Illinois communities.
