Man Who Spurred Elgin Standoff Attempted To Sexually Assault Teen
Jon Fischer, 67, is now being held on a $3 million bail following the Wednesday morning attack.

ELGIN, IL -- A 67-year-old man is accused of restraining a teenage girl and attempting to sexually assault her at a home in Elgin this past week, the Daily Herald reports. Jon Fischer is now in custody at the Cook County Jail on a $3 million bail following the Wednesday morning attack. After biting Fischer, the girl was able to break away from him long enough to call 911 and yell her address into the phone "hoping someone would hear her," Alyssa Grissom, Cook County assistant state's attorney, said during a court hearing Thursday afternoon.
Fischer remained in custody Friday morning on a $3 million bail. He is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, according to online jail records.
Fischer is accused of entering the girl's room at about 9 a.m. on Wednesday and at one point, pushing her onto her stomach, placing a pillow over her head and pulling down her pants, according to the Daily Herald. Police arrived and were able to escort the girl out. A three-hour standoff followed as SWAT teams were called to the scene and the neighborhood was cordoned off, according to media reports.
