2 Bridge Replacement Projects to Get Underway Monday
A bridge over Fitchie Creek in Elgin and another over Otter Creek in South Elgin are set to be replaced this spring.

The bridge that carries Nesler Road over Fitchie Creek in Elgin is set to be replaced this spring.
Starting on March 6, Nesler Road will be closed from South Street to Bowes Road as part of the bridge replacement project, according to information posted on the Plato Township website. The roadway will remain closed through Sept. 10.
The bridge replacement project is estimated to cost between $1.4 million and $1.6 million, Plato Township Highway Commissioner Larry Trainor told the Daily Herald.

Another area bridge replacement project will also begin on Monday when work began on a bridge over Otter Creek in South Elgin, according to the Daily Herald. McDonald Road will be closed from Thornwood Way to Peppertree Lane until mid-September and the project is slated to cost $2.5 million.
Both projects include the addition of emergency lanes and call for the bridges to be widened, according to the Daily Herald.
