Another Elgin Student Arrested For School Shooting Threat

ELGIN, IL – The Elgin Police Department has made its second arrest in recent days after a student allegedly made a threat regarding a shooting at Elgin High School. The 16-year-old was taken into custody on Tuesday evening, police said. The Tuesday arrest came the same day authorities took a 15-year-old into custody for a similar threat made against Larkin High School.

The alleged Elgin High School shooting was supposed to occur today (Wednesday, March 7), according to a Facebook post from the Elgin Police Department. The Larkin High School shooting was supposed to occur on Tuesday.

Both of the threats were made over social media, according to authorities.

"We appreciate those in the community who are reporting these threats," Elgin Police Chief Jeffrey Swoboda said. "Kids really need to understand there are consequences for the disruption and fear they are causing."
