Bartlett Library hosted drive for animals in need

Bartlett Library staff members loaded up a car full of toys, blankets, food and more to the Anderson Animal Shelter.

Throughout the month of April, the Bartlett Public Library District offered a drive to its patrons for the Anderson Animal Shelter located in South Elgin, Ill.

“We were very happy to offer up the drive again this year,” Human Resources Specialist Dina Castelvecchi said. “The Bartlett Library patrons are just so generous, and they brought in so many items for the animals.”

Some items patrons brought in for the drive include blankets, towels, animal food, toys, bedding, newspapers, soap, bleach and much more. There was so much donated that it all filled an entire SUV as staff members Laura Jakaitis and Castelvecchi brought the items to the shelter on May 3.

“The animals at the shelter can’t advocate for themselves,” Jakaitis said. “It’s great to see how the community comes together to help them out.”
