Bridge Repairs to Cause Delays on Route 20 in Elgin

The work on the bridge is expected to start on Monday, June 12.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that a lane closure will take place on the structure that carries U.S. 20 over the Fox River, in Elgin, beginning on Monday, June 12. The closure is necessary for to perform bridge repairs, according to a news release. In order to complete the repairs, the right lane of eastbound U.S. 20 will be closed over the Fox River.

The work is expected to be completed by Monday, June 19.

The scope of the work includes concrete bridge deck patching and repairs to the bridge approach structure.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area, according to the news release. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
