No more lead fees – new free platform for Chicagoland contractors and homeowners

Hello everyone,

I am the owner of CLK Drywall & Handyman Services and like many of you, I got sick of watching heavy-handed marketplaces monopolize local services. Homeowners get their data sold to phone spammers, and honest, independent contractors get squeezed by exorbitant "pay-per-click" or "pay-per-lead" models just to bid on a local gutter cleaning or plumbing job.To tackle this, I built HandyNeighbor, a completely free platform designed to bridge the gap between neighbors and local service pros without a corporate middleman.

How it works:

• For Neighbors: Post a quick job description (e.g., "Need an outlet replaced"). Contractors in your immediate radius can view it. Your personal contact info is never shared or sold.
• For Contractors: Create a profile and chat directly with clients. It is 100% free. No subscription, no lead fees, no premium tiers.

Why I’m posting here:
I’m launching this as a pure passion project to help local economies. Because I have zero budget for massive ad campaigns, I’m growing this entirely organically.I would love to get the community's feedback on the UI, the onboarding flow, or the concept itself.
