ECC Arts Center Brings Mexican Tradition to Life with "Sugar Skull! A Día de Muertos Musical Adventure"
Sugar Skull! is a bilingual musical production that takes audiences on a magical journey through the rich traditions of Día de Muertos.
ELGIN, Ill., September 16, 2026 — The ECC Arts Center invites families and audience members of all ages to celebrate Mexican culture, music, and storytelling with two performances of Sugar Skull! A Día de Muertos Musical Adventure on Saturday, October 17, at 11 am and 3 pm.
Sugar Skull! is a high-energy, bilingual musical production that takes audiences on a magical journey through the rich traditions of Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead). The show follows twelve-year-old Vita, who thinks her family has gone loco planning a celebration for deceased loved ones.
Why throw a party for the dead? But when a spirited candy skeleton named Sugar Skull suddenly springs to life, Vita finds herself on a magical, musical journey to unravel the true meaning of Día de Muertos.

Featuring traditional regional music and dance from Mexico, Sugar Skull! offers an engaging, colorful cultural experience that will educate and delight audiences of all ages.
Tickets are $35 for adults; FREE for ages 17 and under and can be purchased online at eccartscenter.org, by phone at (847) 622-0300, or in person at the ECC Arts Center Box Office, 1700 Spartan Drive, Building H, in Elgin.
