Register for Backpacks! Hanover Township's Annual Backpack Distribution will begin Tuesday, August 3 through Wednesday, August 11 at the Astor Avenue Community Center (7431 Astor Avenue, Hanover Park). Backpacks available while supplies last. Backpacks filled with school supplies will be offered to students in grades K - 8. Residents must complete the registration form to receive a backpack. Once registered, residents will be contacted with a pick-up date and time. For questions, please call the Township at (630) 540-9085.

School supply donations are still being accepted and can be dropped off at all Township offices! Most needed items include backpacks, spiral notebooks, filler paper, pencils, markers, crayons, scissors, rulers, flash drives, two-pocket folders, erasers, calculators, highlighters, pens and glue sticks. The Office of Community Health will host the 14th annual "Just for the Health of It" Health & Wellness Expo in-person, and outdoors, on Thursday, September 9 from 11AM - 3PM! Community vendors showcase their services and provide valuable preventative screenings and resources in the areas of physical, mental, environmental, and financial health. Fun and informative for the entire family, this expo offers a kid friendly zone equipped with a bounce castle, screenings for all ages, seasonal vaccinations, as well as entertainment! Art Show will run the in-person/virtual art show from August 1-31 with an in-person Artist Reception on August 6 from 9AM-3PM.

Summer Grab-and-Go Lunch Program Hanover Township's Astor Avenue Community Center (7431 Astor Avenue, Hanover Park) will conclude its summer lunch program on Friday, August 13 with an ice cream party for attendees. Until then, grab-n-go lunches are available Monday through Friday between the hours of 11:30PM and 1PM. No registration is required. Ye Olde Gift Shoppe The Senior Committee is pleased to share that the Ye Olde Gift Shoppe has
reopened! The shoppe is located in the Senior Center and is open to the public.
It features jewelry, glassware, home goods and holiday themed items which are available throughout the year. The shoppe is operated by volunteers, who will be staffing the shop on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10AM–3PM. Shoppers will need to complete a brief health screening, wear a mask, and maintain social distancing.

All proceeds from the gift shop benefit the patrons of the Senior Center.
Over the years, monies from the shop have helped purchase laptops for
the computer lab and the gazebo in Runzel Reserve. For questions on shopping or volunteering, or to make

Movie Screening and Q&A Series
Hanover Township’s Diversity & Engagement Task Force will continue
their free public screenings of diversity themed movies at the Senior Center
(240 S. IL Route 59, Bartlett). After the screening, there will be a discussion
on diversity and engagement within the Township.

or email hmatich@hanover-township.org to register. Fall Food Truck Festival Join Hanover Township for the 4th Annual Fall Food Truck Festival at the William Tiknis Campus (250 S. IL Route 59, Bartlett) on Thursday, September 16 from 5 - 8PM! There will be live music, carnival games and most importantly, great food and drinks! Come out for a great time and learn more about the programs and services of Hanover Township! Depression Screenings Township Therapists will offer free, confidential, drop-in depression screenings in both English and Spanish on August 5, August 13, and August 21 at the Town Hall (250 S. IL Route 59, Bartlett). Therapists will review the results of the screenings with participants and provide referrals as needed.
No appointment is needed. For additional information please contact (630) 483-5799. Individuals 12 years and younger must have an adult accompany them to screening. Stars N' Stripes Cafe Reopens The Stars-N-Stripes Café has reopened for in-person dining. Cafe hours are 11AM-1PM. The cafe is open to ALL. There is a suggested donation of $4 per meal for patrons over 60 and $6 for all others. All diners need to complete a brief health screening upon entrance.
Masks are required when not eating and guests will be seated at tables spaced six feet apart. Seating is limited; if no table is available, meals can be taken to-go or enjoyed at one of the outdoor tables, weather permitting. At this time, no advanced reservations are needed.
In-person diners have the choice of five meal options. Due to COVID restrictions, we are currently unable to serve coffee. Diners have the choice of milk or bottled water.
Curbside orders will still be available for those who prefer to take their entrée to-go. Please call the Senior Center at (630) 483-5600 to place your to-go order. If ordering curbside, please note that the hours have changed: curbside orders can be picked up between 12PM-4PM. Township Blood Drive The Office of Community Health, in partnership with the American Red Cross, will be hosting a Township Blood Drive on Tuesday, August 17 from 10AM-3PM in the Senior Center. Those interested in donating blood can call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org.
On appointment day, please bring a photo ID, blood donor card,
or two other forms of ID. Hanover Township is a Passport Acceptance Facility. Planning a trip?
