• 26-year-old South Elgin man killed in motorcycle crash in South Elgin; driver of Mercedes sedan cited (shawlocal.com) — A 67-year-old Elgin resident driving a Mercedes was cited after a South Elgin motorcycle crash that killed 26-year-old Piotr Wendel on October 7. Police say the collision happened as the Mercedes turned from Randall Road onto Thornwood Avenue, closing the area for hours while multiple Kane County agencies investigated and sought additional witnesses.
   

• Saint Francis roars past Judson (journalgazette.net) — Football fans in Elgin saw a lopsided matchup at Dawson Field as Saint Francis routed Judson 70–7 before about 500 spectators. Saint Francis piled up 498 yards on just 41 plays, scoring on long runs, big pass plays, and even two kickoff returns while the struggling Judson squad fell to 0–6 this season.
