Elgin Community College Musical Theatre invites audiences to discover a fresh take on Broadway’s best-kept secrets with its spring production, Unsung Broadway, February 20-March 1, 2026, in the ECC Arts Center’s SecondSpace Theatre.

Co-directed by Marc Beth and Douglas Orlyk, this original musical revue celebrates lesser-known songs from Broadway shows, overlooked masterpieces, and iconic musical cult classics that all deserve a second moment in the spotlight.

Unlike traditional musicals, Unsung Broadway is a cabaret-style concert with no story.
“Just a wonderful time in the theatre, seeing students and community members singing great songs that have fallen through the cracks,” said Beth.

One of the most exciting aspects of the project has been the collaborative nature of the show.

“As a musical revue, this is a collection of songs that the team (cast and directors) has assembled,” Beth shared. “The biggest joy is including the students in the process. It’s rare for students to be able to have input on what songs they sing in a revue like this. There are plenty of published revues, but it’s always exciting to create one ourselves.”

The cast has embraced the unique challenge of learning entirely new material.

“Often in musical theatre, many cast members already know the show before rehearsals even begin,” explained Beth. “With Unsung Broadway, the mission was to feature songs not everyone knows. So it’s been great to see students discovering brand new repertoire.”

Adding to the energy of the production is a live four-piece band, whose members have created original arrangements specifically for the show. The result is a one-of-a-kind musical theatre experience that’s not to be missed.
