Elgin Man Raped Woman, Said She 'Belonged To Him': Police

She went to his house to do laundry, reports say, when he sent others away and forced himself on her.

ELGIN, IL — An Elgin man is being accused of slapping and raping a woman he knew, according to reports, when she came to his residence to do laundry. If charged, he'll see up to 15 years in prison and have to register as a sex offender.

Carlos Perez-Carlos, 36, was at his residence in the 400 block of Hubbard Avenue around 6 p.m. Friday when a woman and her son came to do laundry. Perez-Carlos asked the son, and another person in the house, if they were hungry and sent them to get food, police said, according to the Daily Herald.

The Herald reported police as saying Carloz-Perez then told the woman she "belonged to him" and that he wanted to have sex. According to police, she refused, but he didn't listen. He instead pushed her against a wall and forced himself on her, slapping her on both sides of the face.

Somebody around the house told him to stop. "Let her go" and "she doesn't wan't this," the bystander said, according to a report. The Herald said he stopped after seeing headlights shine through the windows.

After the woman went to the police station, Carlos-Perez was brought in. According to the Herald, he said he didn't know how she had gotten the red marks on her cheeks and that the two had consensual sex while the other two were out getting food.

Perez-Carlos is facing three felony counts of criminal sexual assault, attempted criminal sexual assault and two counts of domestic battery (misdemeanors), the Herald reported.

He's being held at the Kane County jail on $150,000 bail. His next court date is Friday.
