ELGIN, IL -- Douglas Avenue will be closed between Chicago Street and Highland Avenue in Elgin on Wednesday. The closure is necessary for roof work on the Tower Building, according to a city of Elgin Facebook post. During the closure, no street parking will be allowed on the block, but it will be open to pedestrian traffic. The current partial closure of northbound Grove Avenue, immediately north of Chicago Street, will remain closed throughout Tower Building construction. Southbound Douglas Avenue traffic should use Grove Avenue and Northbound Douglas Avenue traffic should use Spring Street.
