ELGIN, IL — A 40-year-old Elgin woman is being held at the Kane County Jail on a $750,000 bail after she allegedly hit her estranged husband with a sports utility vehicle and then proceeded to try and hit him seven more times before driving the SUV into the Fox River while fleeing police, the Daily Herald reports.

Micaela Salcedo, of the 500 block of South Street in Elgin, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with use of a deadly weapon, criminal damage to property and additional felony charges in connection with the Feb. 3 incident.

The couple was talking in Salcedo's Jeep when Francisco decided to get out because his estranged wife would not give him the documents he had come for, according to the Daily Herald.
