Health care workers receive Valentine’s Day surprise

State Reps. Suzanne Ness and Anna Moeller gave Advocate Sherman Hospital teammates with gifts for a special Valentine's Day surprise.

For the fourth year in a row, State Reps. Suzanne Ness and Anna Moeller surprised healthcare teammates at Advocate Sherman Hospital with cards during shift change this Valentine’s Day.

Ness and Moeller’s offices organized a card drive and collected cards from Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Suburbs, Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA – McHenry County), Sunny Hill Elementary School in Barrington, Jacobs High School NHS, Elgin High School, Algonquin Area Public Library and Arden Rose Senior Living.

“We appreciate the support and appreciation the community shows for our health care workers every day and this event is always one we look forward to,” said Sheri De Shazo, president of Advocate Sherman Hospital. “Each card encourages our teammates and leaves them inspired. We thank Reps. Ness and Moeller for their continued support.”

In addition to the cards contributed by the community, flowers were provided by Larkin Floral.

“What started as a response to the tremendous efforts by health care personnel to the COVID pandemic, has become an anchor event for my office,” Ness said. “The community wants to acknowledge and appreciate the year after year efforts of health care workers to keep us all healthy. I look forward to this event every year.”
