Kane County Recycles: What You Need To Know
The last recycling event of the year is this Saturday, Nov. 11, so get there while you can.

KANE COUNTY IL — Kane County is hosting a recycling and document shredding event this on Veterans' Day, this Saturday, Nov. 11 to give residents a chance to get rid of many types of items they no longer need or want. It's the last event of its type until January.
The Kane County Recycles Event, running from 8 a.m. to noon, will be held at 540 S. Randall Rd. in St. Charles. They'll accept electronics, books and paint for recycling, and documents for shredding.

Most electronics are free to recycle, like computers, keyboards, laptops, printers, stereos, cellphones, microwaves, Christmas lights and more. TVs and monitors have a cost, however. Screens under 21-inches (measured diagonally) cost $25 to recycle, and screens 21-inches and over cost $35. You can pay with cash or card.
Latex and oil paint will be recycled. Latex paint will cost $2 per quart can, $3.50 per gallon can and $10 per five-gallon bucket. Oil paints cost $6 per gallon can, $9 per two-gallon can and $25 per five-gallon bucket.

They noted that you can recycle your oil paints for free at the Naperville Hazardous Waste Facility.
Confidential documents for shredding should be in paper bags or boxes, and the limit is approximately four boxes. This free service is for Kane County residents only.
