Lead Safety Awareness Month!
Kane County Healthy Places Coalition teams up with local retail paint and hardware stores to help inform our community about lead safety!
National Lead Poisoning Awareness week is October 22nd-28th, 2017, however during the month of October the Kane County Healthy Places Coalition has teamed up with the Menards (S. Randall Rd), Sherwin-Williams (Dundee Ave), Pittsburg Paints (Kimball St.), Ziegler Ace Hardware on Lilian St or the Ziegler Ace Hardware on Spring St. in Elgin to help inform our community about lead safety! Check out these retail paint and hardware stores to view their lead display if you are painting or renovating your home!
Did you know that 49% of the housing in Kane County was built before 1978? This was before the lead paint law went into effect, which means that lead poisoning could be a risk in your home. If you have any peeling paint or plan to start a home renovation project before the holidays, make sure you take the right steps to ensure your family’s health and safety!
