Longtime Gilberts Official Dies After Elgin Crash

William "Bill" Linden died 10 days after a two-vehicle crash in Elgin.

ELGIN, IL - A former chairman of the Gilberts zoning board of appeals died on Monday from injuries he suffered during a two-vehicle crash 10 days earlier in Elgin. William "Bill" Linden was a longtime resident of Gilberts. He was on his way to work in East Dundee at about 5 a.m. on June 12 when the collision occurred at Randall Road and Route 7, according to the Daily Herald.

Linden, 64, had a broken pelvis and sternum following the crashand then suffered from internal bleeding, his son, Josh Linden, told the Daily Herald. Eventually, his heart stopped.

Linden served for over a decade on the zoning board of appeals in Gilberts, where he had been resident since 1982, according to the article.
