November is Carbon Monoxide Awareness Month in Kane County

Know the causes, signs, and symptoms of Carbon Monoxide. Head into your local hardware store for more information.

Did you know that carbon monoxide (CO) is tasteless, odorless, and colorless? As it starts to get colder the use of stoves, fireplaces, gas ranges, and furnaces increase your risk of being exposed to CO. CO can build up in your home and cause harm to you and your pets. Symptoms include headache, dizziness, weakness, upset stomach, vomiting, chest pain, confusion, and even death.

During the month of November, to help reduce the number of those affected by CO poisoning, The Kane County Healthy Places Coalition is teaming up with the Menards on S. Randall Rd, Ziegler’s Ace Hardware on N Spring St., Ziegler’s Ace Hardware on Lillian St., Ziegler’s Ace Hardware on S. Randall Rd., and Blain’s Farm and Fleet on S. Randall Rd. in Elgin and South Elgin to help raise awareness about the dangers of carbon monoxide.

Head in to your local hardware store to stock up on batteries and CO detector systems for your home to keep your family safe!
