• 26-year-old South Elgin man killed in motorcycle crash in South Elgin; driver of Mercedes sedan cited (shawlocal.com) — A 26-year-old South Elgin motorcyclist died Wednesday night after colliding with a Mercedes at Randall Road and Thornwood Avenue, and an Elgin driver of the car was cited for driving too fast and failing to reduce speed. South Elgin police are still investigating and are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the department with information. 
• Audrey Tromp Wins Schmidt Vocal Arts Illinois Regional Competition (operawire.com) — An Elgin high school vocalist, Belle Thommen, earned third place and a $1,500 prize at the Schmidt Vocal Arts Illinois Regional Competition, advancing to the national round next year. Her performance at Northwestern University puts an Elgin student on a statewide stage and opens doors to additional scholarship opportunities in vocal music.
