• District 214 refocuses priorities, cuts costs ahead of planned referendum (chronicleillinois.com) — Elk Grove Village homeowners in District 214 could see annual tax bills rise by roughly $190 to $285 on a $400,000 home, depending on which school improvement plan the board pursues. After extensive community feedback, officials have scaled back earlier, costlier ideas and are focusing on safety, infrastructure, and classroom upgrades ahead of a likely referendum as soon as this November. 
• Hodgkins property taxpayers paid $1,722 per household for local pensions in FY 2024 (southcooknews.com) — Elk Grove Village households paid about $9,469 each toward police and fire pensions in 2024, one of the highest per-household burdens in Illinois. A new state report compares hundreds of municipalities, showing how much local property taxes are going to pension debt and how well-funded each town’s safety pensions are, including Elk Grove Village’s 65% funding level.
