ELMHURST, IL — A home built just 14 years ago is set to be demolished before the multi-billion dollar Interstate Highway 294 widening project. The home, which sits at 505 E. Crescent Ave. in Elmhurst, was purchased by the Illinois Tollway for $710,000 and needs to be demolished to provide room for an interchange ramp that will result from the project, according to a Chicago Tribune Elite Street report.

The home, built in 2005, is the only one in Elmhurst that the tollway needed to acquire for the project. Other homes further south in Hinsdale will be demolished too, but all of those are much older homes. The one in Elmhurst is set to be demolished later this year, Elite Street said.
